As hard as I strain to understand this parable, I feel I’m missing something – or wind up craving a really mellow Cabernet! The parable of the new wine is found in verse 17 and it says: “Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled and the wineskins are ruined but they put new wine into new wineskins and both are preserved.” They have been following Yeshua, learning from him and scrutinizing him. The parables follow the recruitment of Levi as a disciple of Jesus, and appear to be part of a discussion at a banquet held by him.
